So you’re strolling down Mission Drive near the corner of Fifth Street and ponder—what’s going on at The Wildling Museum “where art and nature meet”? There’s so much for you to discover in this amazing three-story space; particularly this Saturday, 10/25/14 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with free opening day admission to “Beguiled by the Wild-ling: The Art of Charley Harper.” Cincinnati-born artist and ardent nature watcher Charley Harper (1922 – 2007) infused much of his “minimal realism” work with a delightful sense of humor depicting animal forms as abstracted, geometric shapes. Don’t miss the free guided exhibit tour at 1:00 pm, the opportunity to meet live animals featured in his art at 2:00 pm, and hear the stories written by Harper during kids’ story time at 3:00 pm.
Plus, check out the Wildling’s other current exhibitions Painting the Wilderness: John Fery and Contemporaries; Preserving Santa Barbara’s Wild Lands; and Celebrating 50 Years of Wilderness.
Did you know the museum is available for private party rentals and meetings; and there’s some really original art and jewelry in the gift shop, too? For all the details, visit http://www.wildlingmuseum.org/
