Are you ready to embrace your inner Dane? Meet some Vikings? Got an appetite for aebleskiver? It’s all happening this weekend during the FREE 79th annual Danish Days from Friday, 9/18/15 through Sunday, 9/20/15. Sponsored by the charitable Solvang Danish Days Foundation, this activity-filled weekend honors the founding of Solvang by Danish-Americans in 1911. At the opening ceremonies Friday night, meet 2015 Danish Days Maid Mia Andersen (pictured at right).
You can enjoy 3 popular parades (Friday night Torchlight; Saturday afternoon Main Parade featuring 2015 Grand Marshals Bent & Susy Olsen, and Sunday afternoon Children’s Parade.) There’s a delicious aebleskiver breakfast followed by an aebleskiver eating contest on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The Danish-style Beer & Wine Garden serves Carlsberg, local brews and wines on Friday night and Saturday.
The Ravens of Odin, a professional Viking re-enactment group creates an authentic camp in Solvang Park adjacent to the Kids’ Korner featuring a huge LEGOS ® make-your-own craft tent. Experience “living history” at the Elverhoj Museum.
