About Solvang


Nestled in the heart of the Santa Barbara County’s Santa Ynez Valley wine country, Solvang is situated on California State Highway 246, just 132 miles/211 km north of Los Angeles and 297 miles/475 km south of San Francisco.

You can arrive by vehicle via scenic Highway 101 or Highway 154 (San Marcos Pass from Santa Barbara) or via air service at Santa Barbara (SBA) or Santa Maria (SMX) or Los Angeles International (LAX) Airports. Amtrak train service is available daily via transfers to Amtrak Thruway Coach from Santa Barbara. All parking is free throughout Solvang.
Six Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations are located throughout downtown.

Named for its sunny weather, Solvang in Danish means “sunny fields” and averages 340 days of annual sunshine. Average annual temperatures are from 76 F/32 C to 54 F/12 C degrees. Dress is casual and comfortable. Early mornings and evenings are generally sweater/jacket time—even in the summer!
